Why I'm Tempted by Distortion

One of the reasons that I'm tempted to use distortion going forward is the opportunity to use original nature photos with the lighting that I want then use distortion to see if I get the picture that I'm looking for. While I like it there are definite limitations to it. However, there's a certain standardization that I like. Since my subject is Vipunen who lives underground in the forest I was looking for specifics in color for him and I really like these results.

Since these gods and goddesses reside in nature the pink and blues of a vibrant sunset combined with the color and shapes that the trees created what I think is a beautiful flow almost suggesting the river flowing close by.  What I would love to do is create a set of altar cards. I need a certain amount of consistency for that. Since the light paintings take so long to produce I may put together a set of cards from various existing photos as a completely different project using this technique.

I'm ordering my new lights today and should be on the road to the light version of the same subject soon.
